The 2010s have gone into a different direction. The posters are still formulaic; however, they have gone the minimalistic route of having a low amount of text elements as possible. The posters will have one photograph element, either a headlining actor or symbol, taking up the whole space. In the “Dark Knight Rises,” the third film of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films; the poster only has the symbol of the bat. Everyone knows the character Batman; just looking at the bat symbol will engage moviegoers of the new film. The same for the Avengers, except it’s an actor where everyone knows Ironman. For the “Equalizer 2,” Denzel Washington is a big name. You don’t need to know the plot. This decade is less about the size of the text and more about the single image.
